Senior Character Animator, AI Performance Evaluation (Remote US, Part-time) — Mercor via AI Gig Scout

Mercor is hiring senior character animators for a leading AI lab's GenAI team, which is building a performance transfer model that carries an actor's original performance into a new output while keeping its timing, emotion and small physical choices. This is a part-time W-2 position with Cincinnatus LLC, listed at $60–$90/hr, remote in the United States with in-person working sessions in Playa Vista (Los Angeles) or New York once or twice a month.

You will set the quality bar for well-transferred performances (body mechanics, facial nuance, timing and emotional intent), critique generated performances shot by shot the way you would in dailies, build benchmarks of reference performances from easy to genuinely hard, and help define the profile, rubric and calibration for the human reviewers who score outputs at scale.

Requirements: 10+ years as a hands-on character animator focused on human and character acting at Senior, Lead or Principal level; animator credits on several feature films, VFX features or AAA game cinematics at recognized studios; a sharp eye for micro-expressions, lip sync, weight and timing; hands-on use of generative image and video tools; strong written communication. Facial animation and recent real-time engine (Unreal or Unity), VR/XR or performance-capture work are strongly preferred.
