Teach classes in collaboration with the Stage Director following the Pre-College Academic Calendar August - March, annually (Saturdays, 3:30PM - 5:30PM),
Prepare and conduct a minimum of two (2) performances per year
Serve as conductor and vocal coach during classes
Provide in-class and additional 1-1 vocal coaching, assisting with vocal technique, diction, and musicianship
Prepare performance materials including markings, edits, and any necessary modifications
Consult with Stage Director to devise all music assignments, construct a weekly rehearsal plan, and communicate schedules to students
Consult with Chair of the Voice Department and with Voice Faculty, as requested, regarding repertoire assignments each semester
Communicate in a timely manner with the Stage Director, collaborative pianist, and Pre-College office
Develop a working relationship with area music educators and arts institutions
Attend three (3) artistic planning meetings per year as scheduled by Associate Director
Adhere to ensemble’s budget as set forth by the Division Director
Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Executive Director and Associate Director
Requirements
Qualifications:
Demonstrate excellent musicianship and artistry as a conductor, pianist, and educator
A minimum of three (3) years professional experience working in the field of arts education with a four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent required
A strong background and understanding of vocal pedagogy and opera and musical theater repertoire
Ability to maintain strong working relationships with SFCM administrative staff and faculty
Demonstrate strong leadership skills; maintain a good relationship with parents; demand a high standard of excellence while creating an encouraging, inspiring, and engaging experience for the students
Successful completion of a criminal background check is required for the selected candidate
