Job Summary:
Title: A&R Research Intern - Distribution (In-Person, Unpaid, For College Credit)
Location: New York, NY (On-Site)
The Role:
Roc Nation is looking for a highly motivated, organized, and enthusiastic individual, who is interested in learning more about the live entertainment and music industries. This internship will allow students to gain first-hand experience in a variety of areas, including but not limited to; A&R, studio recording and release planning.
Areas that you will be learning about:
Interns will assist our team in extensive Artist and song research and identifying opportunities through a variety of means, e.g., shows, radio play, blogs, charts, demos, word-of-mouth, etc.
Coordinate detailed weekly A&R research reports and other scouting projects
Monitor and report on various charts domestically and internationally
Complete various tasks for the Artist Relations Team to include tracking growth of prospective artists, transcribing and reviewing lyrics, reviewing clean audio
Assist with all other day-to-day administrative tasks to ensure artist projects are complete and submitted on time
Qualifications:
Must be a current student, enrolled in a Bachelor’s/Master’s program at an accredited college or university
Must be eligible to receive academic credit from their college or university for the duration of the internship
Prospective interns should have a basic understanding of the music industry and A&R, but still be eager to learn more about the day-to-day process
Interest in pursuing a career in artists and repertoire (A&R)
Prospective interns must LOVE listening to indie and unsigned artists
Skills must include basic Microsoft Office and Internet research
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, writing and organizational skills required
Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Must be proactive, detailed oriented, and possess good follow-through while adhering to deadlines. Strong organizational skills are preferred
Must be able to multitask and prioritize tasks sufficiently while working independently. Candidates must be reliable and have good time management skills
Candidates must have experience handling confidential information
Experience as a songwriter, performer, producer, engineer, etc is a plus
This internship is available for the general Fall semester. This is an in-person internship, with flexible hours (minimum of 16 hours per week) to reflect your necessary college credit requirements.
