Join us on the OS Platforms engineering team as a staff software developer. You will be an individual contributor on a collaborative Scrum team, spearheading the implementation and evolution of Dolby's audio technology products for the Microsoft Windows and Xbox ecosystems.

 

 

Key Responsibilities
•    You will use your software design and software architecture skills to lead the Dolby audio technology integration into Microsoft Windows and Xbox
•    As the technical point of contact, you will collaborate with Microsoft engineering teams to bring new features to life
•    You will investigate how to maximize the value of over-the-top (OTT), video game, and streaming music experiences
•    You will be a partner to other Dolby teams, contributing your expertise to company-wide technical strategy
•    You will embody the principles of agile and lean development
•    You will enjoy improving your own skills and sharing knowledge with colleagues


 

To Be Successful
This role requires a firm understanding of technical relations with external engineering teams, including alignment on features, schedules, and value propositions. You will need to build a deep understanding of how Dolby technology products inter-operate. You will need to examine relevant standards, specifications, and whitepapers to understand design constraints. With these competencies and your software development expertise, you will delight our customers time after time.


 

Other Essential Skills
•    BSEE, MSEE or equivalent experience with 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
•    Demonstrable proficiency in C/C++ is required, ideally for audio or video digital signal processing
•    Demonstrable familiarity with media processing APIs and software constructs, ideally Microsoft's. For example: UWP, ISpatialAudioClient, WASAPI, Media Foundation, and audio processing objects (APOs)
•    Desirable proficiencies include: Python, Javascript, C#, build tools like MSBuild or cmake, as well as macOS or Linux development experience
•    Experience with open-source software and participation in the open-source community desirable
•    Porting and optimization experience for floating-point architectures desirable
•    Professional experience in one or more of the following desirable: Perceptual codecs, OTT services, game development, Bluetooth, or VoIP
•    Willing to travel domestically in support of project requirements as needed
•    Effusive passion for movies, music, and video games!
