Job Summary:

Middle Park High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Theater Director to lead and manage all aspects of our high school’s theatrical productions, including a fall play and a spring play. The ideal candidate will inspire students, foster creativity, and promote collaboration while developing high-quality performances that showcase student talent and support the arts in our school community.

Responsibilities:

• Select appropriate plays for fall and spring productions in consultation with administration and aligned with student interests and school values.

• Direct all aspects of the productions, including casting, scheduling, rehearsals, blocking, and performance execution.

• Oversee and collaborate with technical staff and volunteers on set design, lighting, costumes, sound, props, and stage management.

• Provide a positive and inclusive environment where all students feel welcomed and encouraged to participate.

• Manage production budgets responsibly and coordinate with administration on purchasing and fundraising needs.

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members.

• Supervise students during rehearsals and performances, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.

• Promote performances within the school and the wider community to increase attendance and support.

• Maintain the theater space and ensure proper use and care of equipment and materials.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Education, or related field preferred.

• Previous experience directing theatrical productions, especially with high school students.

• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

• Ability to collaborate with students of varying skill levels and backgrounds.

• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for rehearsals and performances.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching certification or licensure in drama or related area.

• Experience with technical theater and production design.

• Demonstrated ability to foster student engagement and creativity.

Working Environment:

Middle Park High School is located in Granby, Colorado, 90 miles NW of Denver and 20 miles from the Winter Park Ski area.  School is in session Monday-Thursday from 8:00-4:15.  MPHS has approximately 400 students in grades 9-12 and serves the communities of Winter Park, Fraser, Tabernash, Granby, Grand Lake, Hot Sulphur Springs and beyond.  https://mphs.egsd.org https://twitter.com/MiddleParkHS?s=09
